SANDMAN by Evan Shaner

Or rather, the Legion of Sandmen. I couldn't decide on one to go with so I threw a bunch of them in there.

SANDMAN by Ron Salas

I had a more ambitious one planned but I might not have the time to do it in. We shall see. In the meantime, here's a 6x6 Dream I just finished to accompany my 6x6 Wesley Dodds.

Great pick, Dan!

SANDMAN by Declan Shalvey

With everyone knocking it out of the park this week, I felt I had to up my game and put some thought into this one. Was originally just gonna draw the Sandman on top and keep a long vertical format, but the drawing kept changing quite naturally. Normally I plan a layout in advance but this one developed quite organically on the page.

EDIT: ... something more substantial...

........

i've been a bit busy lately (what with running from the taxman and everything) so i'm going to cheat slightly and post a commission i did a little while ago as a place-holder until i can commit something a bit more substantial.

cheers.

Thank you, Dan for such a cool pick :)
When choosing which version to draw, it was one of those "duh" moment, you know? ;)
So, ladies and Gents, here's THE SANDMAN! :)

Cheers,
Francesco

SANDMAN by Dan McDaid

I had the idea for this pic even before I knew I was going to select Sandman for this week's TWART. I love Flint Marko, AKA The Sandman. There are a ton of reluctant superheroes out there, but Sandman is one of the few reluctant supervillains - and he sports a wicked Steve Ditko design (incorporating Ditko's trademark cornrows) to boot.

I also did a couple of DC Sandman sketches using the Brushes app for iPod.

I used my finger! It's the future!

EDIT: Following some (gentle) arm-twisting from Ron Salas, I decided to post my warm-up piece as well :)

SANDMAN by Mitch Gerads

The designer in me needed OUT!

Great pick, Dan!

Edit: I think I might even like it better upside down!

SANDMAN by Chris Samnee

I feel like I've drawn Sandman a bunch, so I tried to do something a bit different then what I've done before. Can you find all the Sandmans?

FRANKENSTEIN by Ron Salas

Always liked Frankenstein since I first read the book as a kid. As a result, I could never really accept the James Whale version of the character. Is my drawing really a faithful depiction Frankenstein's monster, though? You be the judge.

BRIDE OF FRANKENSTEIN by Steve Bryant

Wow. I've been away for a few weeks (again!) and am stunned by the work generated by my fellow Twartists—I'm sorry for being quiet on the list and on the blog since a few weeks prior to SDCC, but continue to be amazed and inspired by everything you guys draw and paint (posted to the list and posted to the blog). You guys are my heroes.

Okay, on to this week's Twart...Andy's edict was simple:

"please feel free to interpret shelley's monster in any setting past, present, or future, or do a drawing of any character inspired by the original, from frankenstein jr, to the franken-hooker! i guess my point is, go nutty! good luck, and may god have mercy on your souls."

Like a bunch of these guys, I have a soft spot for the big guy—especially as portrayed by Boris Karloff. But I have even more affection for James Whale's 1935 sequel, The Bride of Frankenstein.

Big thanks to Andy for picking such a cool topic!

FRANKENSTEIN by Evan Shaner

Frankenstein's Monster is my favorite of the classic monsters, and much like the doctor who put him together I strung together bits and pieces of my favorite renditions of the creature.

You can see the black and white sketch over at my blog.

Another great pick Andy!
