JAR JAR BINKS by tom fowler

i'm cheating a bit this week, but given that i'm fairly certain i'm the only twartist to have drawn jar jar professionally, i figured i earned the right to fudge this week a bit.

as andy mentioned in his post, there aren't a whole lot of ways to make jar jar cool. the best way i've found is not to show him at all. a few years back , while i was doing some star wars work, i proposed a short story set just before "a new hope". the main idea being that most of the rebels blamed jar jar for everything that had gone wrong in there universe, and that resentment had turned over time into a general prejudice against gungans, who themselves made it a point of honor to fight the hardest in the worst conditions to make up for this supposed debt. that set the scene for a "two-fisted tales/the losers" style story about one particularly hardcore unit of gungan warriors, going on a certain death mission that ultimately (so far as anyone in the story knew or cared) turned out to be meaningless.

not surprisingly, nobody went for it. whether because of the underlying theme of racism, or because it may have been a bit too meta, i don't know.

so why am i writing all this?

jar jar can lick my left nut...

... but gungans are fun to draw.

That's a helluva drawing Tom. But you're not the only one to draw Jar Jar professionally. I designed a bunch of toy figures of Jar Jar... I should of given the money to the starving artists school...

Geez, only Tom Fowler could take such a lame subject and knock it out of the part. WOW.

Super sweet. This thing would sing in color. Great story idea, too!
