KETCHUP! by Evan Shaner

Here's my piece for Andy's John Carter of Mars week. I was only recently able to get a scan of it. I'll admit I'm a lot less familiar with Carter than Burroughs' other popular creation, but the idea of a confederate captain zapped to Mars while trying to hide from Apaches, well that's pretty neat.

I'm going to count this as my Frank Frazetta tribute as well. I discovered Frazetta's work in college and have since kept a large folder of his paintings, amazed at the way he played with contrast. For what it's worth I enjoyed his work in newspaper strips as well.

That is sweet, Evan! Great design. I love how reserved you are with the background. It really makes the image work. One of your best.

Thanks Ron! Originally Dejah was supposed to pop a lot more here but it just played out this way.

I second what Ron says. This may be my favorite piece of yours thus far. Which is saying something...
