Black Beetle by Nathan Fairbairn

Like Mr. Samnee, I've been under intense deadline pressure this last week or so (colors on three books due this coming Friday) but I just couldn't abide the thought of missing a week of Twarting. So I grabbed my 10" x 7" sketchbook and a handful of Copic markers (plus my 4-year-old boy's scented red Crayola marker :D) for a bit of fun after a productive morning of work.

Sorry for such a half-assed effort, guys, but it's all I've got this week. :)

cheers,
N.

This looks great! I'm impressed you guys can get something up here every week knowing what kind of deadline pressure you're under. Like Mike said, the purpose is of this blog is to have fun, and this piece looks like fun to me! :)

Also, smelly markers rule!

Yeah, thank you so much for joining the FUN, Nathan :D And I dig the panel action you have there. Also it shows that you don't need fancy tools to draw the Black Beetle: he can look a badass also with crayons :D

Alejandro: so far only the artist losted on the right bar have access to post directly in this blog, but if you want to draw a BB, please feel free to do so and either post the link in a reply or email the link: would love to see it :)

Cheers,
Francesco

It's super, super cute. And I love that it's a little narrative as well.

Ah, thanks for the kind words, guys. It WAS really fun. I've been so stressed out lately with work that it was a relief to simply step away from the computer for half an hour and just doodle this fun character of Francesco's.

Mitch -- it was strawberry! (I think. Those things just smell like chemicals to me, mostly. :D)

Francesco -- I'm so glad you like it. If you want, I'll totally rip it out of my sketchbook and hand it to you when I see you at ECCC in a couple of weeks.

Alejandro -- when I first read your comment, I just thought it was a pretty hilarious diss, as in, "Shit, can just ANYone post on this blog?" If you were being genuine, I apologize for laughing you off like that. :)
