TARZAN by Steve Bryant

Big Edgar Rice Burroughs fan here, so I was thrilled that Mitch chose John Clayton, Lord Greystoke, for this week's Twart! I was even happier because I have time to contribute.

This one also functions as my (ketchup) Frazetta Tribute, as there's been no one that has captured the enormity of Burroughs' jungle scenes as Frank.

In the words of the Mangani tribe, and Kala's most famous son in particular, Kreegah bundolo!

Thanks for great choice, Mitch, Tarzan is another favorite of mine :)
And hope you guys don't mind if I did another GoldenKey-like cover, hope that's not a problem :)

Have a wonderful Memorial Day everyone :)

Cheers,
Francesco

P.S.: BW/inks version of this posted will be posted later on Pulp Sunday.

TARZAN by Ron Salas

I wanted to go way classic on this one. The Tarzan art by Burne Hogarth was a great influence on me since my childhood. I loved the lush inks and the raw power of the art. As I grew older I've come to appreciate the work of Hal Foster that preceded him and it's partly his inking style that I tried to emulate here.

John Carter by Ron Salas

Here's my John Carter.

John Carter and the other Edgar Rice Burroughs heroes were big parts of my childhood. Burroughs was an incredibly prolific writer and, in my opinion, there was no better writer at writing adventure novels and stories. So what if his stories were, by and large, factually inaccurate? He had a sense of action and drama that were second to none.

I probably would have picked John Carter for my topic if no one had when my turn came so I'm really glad Andy picked him. Thanks Andy!

Thank you so much to Andy for picking up yet another Pulp character: I am definitely in my element with these choices :)
Inspired by the old Gold Key covers, here's my take on John Carter of Mars :)
Hope you guys enjoy it as much I enjoyed to draw it :)

Cheers,
Francesco
